The purpose of the sociology major is to provide students with an understanding of the substantive fields and research methods comprising sociology as a science. 

The Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology is designed both for students who intend to pursue advanced studies leading to a master's or postdoctoral degree in the social sciences, and those wishing to enter the labor market with meaningful skills and expertise that are transferable to real-world situations.
