Verify Your FAFSA

Why do I need to verify my FAFSA?

You may have received notification that you've been selected for FAFSA verification, which means you need to provide some information before your FAFSA is considered complete.

You haven't done anything wrong — applicants are randomly selected — but keep in mind that not verifying your FAFSA could impact your chances of receiving financial aid.

How do I verify my FAFSA?

Use the FAFSA Verification Worksheet or bring any missing materials to the Office of Financial Aid, located on the third floor of the Oneal-Sells Building.

Is something wrong with my application?

You may need to verify your FAFSA because there is something keeping your application from being processed. Some examples of what could be holding up your file:

  • FAFSA tax information was incorrect
  • VA Certificate of Eligibility on file
  • TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid) application received
  • Request for dependency change
  • Federal grant overpayment
  • Change in circumstances for student or parent
Am I missing something?

You could be missing just one thing – or maybe a few. Here are some of the most common items that applicants are missing:

  • Signatures on your FAFSA
  • Student’s or parent’s tax transcript
  • Student’s or parent’s Social Security Number
  • Student’s or parent’s income statement
  • Verification worksheet
  • Birth certificate or citizenship confirmation
  • Legal guardianship documents

Finding out what’s holding up your application is easy – just check your Ramlink account.
