Join us for the Alumni Reunion and the Inaugural Wesleyan 5K

April 22-23, 2016

125 years and growing. Every year the University invites alumni to reconnect with fellow Rams and revisit their favorite Wesleyan memories. We've added several events to this year's reunion including the inaugural Wesleyan 5K.

All alumni are invited, but we honor those who are celebrating milestone anniversaries. This year's honored classes are 1956, 1966 (Golden Anniversary), 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2006 and 2011.

Schedule of Events

Friday, April 22

Dinner at Joe T’s

  • 6 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. dinner – Joe T. Garcia’s (2201 N. Commerce St., Fort Worth)
  • Enjoy an evening of fun, great Mexican food and renowned margaritas with fellow Rams at one of Fort Worth’s premier Mexican restaurants. Cash bar available.
Saturday, April 23

Wesleyan 5K (W5K)

  • 7:30 a.m. registration, 8:30 a.m. race begins, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. kid’s zone and vendor fair 
  • Campus Mall/W5K & Willie Walk Registration: Armstrong-Mabee Business Center
  • Inaugural 5K and festival to include a 5K run/walk, 1 mile Willie Walk, vendor fair, kid’s zone and more. All proceeds will support student scholarships.
  • To participate in the W5K, register at txwes.edu/W5K

Alpha Chi/Golden Shears Breakfast

  • 9 a.m. – Lou’s Place 
  • Honoring Alpha Chi and Golden Shears members, recognizing the 50-year “Golden” anniversary class of 1966. Golden anniversary alumni are invited to attend breakfast free of charge!

Alumni Gathering

  • 11 a.m. – Nicholas Martin Hall 
  • Hear from University President Frederick G. Slabach, Alumni Board President Glen Tuggle ’85 and SGA President Abbey Borghee about the latest happenings at Texas Wesleyan, and enjoy entertainment from current students.

Group Reunion Photo

  • 11:45 a.m. – Front steps of the West Library

Lunch and Lawn Party

  • 12 p.m. – Dora Roberts Dining Hall 
  • Join fellow alumni and your favorite retired faculty and staff for lunch and lawn games at Dora’s. A portion of the cost will support the Wesleyan Fund.

125th Anniversary Book Signing

  • 12-2 p.m. – West Library
  • Meet history professors Dr. Elizabeth Alexander and Dr. Brenda Taylor-Matthews, and university archivist Louis Sherwood, who contributed their time to research and write this limited edition coffee table book about the University's founding, old traditions and ongoing success.
  • Books will be available for purchase at this signing and at the University bookstore, as well.

Ram Experience

  • 1:30 p.m.  – Meet at the West Library 
  • President’s Ambassadors will escort you around campus to hear updates from various faculty, staff and students. Along the way you’ll see all of the outstanding facilities (new & old) and view our ongoing campus beautification projects. The University looks better than ever so take this chance to see for yourself.

60s Gathering

  • 1:30 p.m. – Board Room (third floor, Admin. Bldg.)
  • Reconnect with fellow Rams from the 1960s and relive your college glory days when your motto was peace, love & Wesleyan.

70s Gathering

  • 1:30 p.m. - Carter Conference Room (second floor, SUB)
  • Join fellow classmates from the 1970s and reminisce about the good ole days.

62nd Annual Musical Clue: The Musical

  • 2 p.m. matinee – Thad Smotherman Theatre 
  • The popular board game is now a fun-filled musical which brings the world's best-known suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery: who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon. Three audience members choose from cards representing the potential murderers, weapons and rooms; there are 216 possible endings! Only one hard-nosed detective is qualified to unravel the merry mayhem. Comic antics, witty lyrics and a beguiling score carry the investigation from room to room. Even after the culprit confesses, a surprise twist delights the audience in this audience interactive musical comedy.

Softball Game

  • 2 p.m. – Sycamore Park 
  • Stop by Sycamore Park to watch the Lady Rams take on Southwestern Christian University.

Mary Apple Art Exhibition

  • 3-5 p.m. – Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio 
  • Mary Apple taught art at Texas Wesleyan from 1964 to 1998. Stop by and see her art displayed in the old Polytechnic Firehouse, recently renovated into the Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio. Strawberries and champagne – two of Mary’s favorites – will be served as we remember this great art force of Texas Wesleyan and view some of her work.    

Paint Time

  • 4-6 p.m.  – Lou’s Place 
  • No art skills are required for this event. Just show up ready to turn your blank canvas into a masterpiece of art. A professional artist will walk everyone through the steps to create a Wesleyan-themed painting. You don’t want to miss this!

Dinner at Dora’s

  • 4:30-6:30 p.m. – Dora’s Café 
  • Dora's Dining Hall looks like new after a complete remodel last year. Grab a quick bite in Dora’s and relive your college eating experience in a grander way.

80s Party

  • 5:30 p.m.  – Baker Building 
  • Did you graduate in the 80s? Come hang out with your classmates at this totally rad 80s party. You will like, for sure, have a tubular time reminiscing with fellow Rams while enjoying some totally awesome food and cocktails.

School of Education Reception

  • 6 p.m. – Sid Richardson Center, 2nd floor
  • All education graduates are invited to visit with fellow alumni and Dr. Carlos Martinez, dean of the School of Education, as we celebrate kinesiology graduates at this year’s reception. Come check out the new athletic training and human performance laboratories.

Afterglow at the Clock Tower

  • 9:30 p.m. – Sid Richardson Plaza 
  • End the Alumni Reunion with a bang as we light up the new University clock tower in Wesleyan colors, while enjoying hors d'oeuvres, wine and music. You’ll also meet the cast from the musical as they join us after their evening performance.
