VoIP Telephone Service


Telephone service for Texas Wesleyan employees is offered through Voice Over Internet Protocol (aka VoIP) technology. VoIP service leverages the University's high performance network and server infrastructure to provide advanced features compared to that of traditional telephone services.


Standard Features

  • Includes telephone
  • Dedicated telephone number
  • Local, long distance, and international calling
  • Campus-wide 4-digit extension dialing
  • Call Forwarding - allows you to redirect incoming calls to another telephone number, such as another campus telephone or cell phone.
  • Caller ID
  • Conference Calling (Max. 4 participants)
  • Call Transfer
  • Call Park - allows you to place a caller on hold, then you or a colleague can retrieve the call from another campus telephone
  • Call History and Redial
  • Speed Dial
  • E911 - ("Enhanced 911") transmits emergency 911 calls to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point ("PSAP") along with a callback telephone number and your physical location. It is a standard service required by both the FCC and Texas Health and Saftey Code. Certain limitations apply.
  • 911 Call Alert - This feature further enhances E911 by sending an additional alert to Campus Security when you place a 911 call. Campus Security is automatically provided with details about the 911 call and your location to aid in response efforts.

Optional Features

  • Single Number Reach (aka Mobility) - Allow callers to reach you at your desk phone and mobile phone with one telephone number. Incoming calls will ring at both your desk phone and mobile phone. This feature also allows you to transition an active call between your desk phone and mobile phone without losing connection or interrupting the conversation. For example, if you are talking on your desk phone, and need to walk out of the office to your next meeting, you can switch the call seamlessly to your mobile phone without interrupting the conversation
  • Call Pickup Group - a call coverage feature that allows co-workers to pickup incoming calls for others in their group
