Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity

Texas Wesleyan Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter is adopting the mission of the International branch to help eliminate homelessness and substandard housing, specifically in the Fort Worth area, giving students the opportunity to help transform the community and local families' lives. The Texas Wesleyan Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter is the first organization on campus with the sole purpose of serving the community. All members of the Texas Wesleyan community, including faculty and staff, are welcome to join to club.

The club will uphold the four principles of Habitat for Humanity: building, fundraising, advocating for the need to end substandard housing and homelessness, and educating the student chapter, the school and local communities about the mission and work of Habitat for Humanity. Texas Wesleyan Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter will volunteer with local affiliate, Trinity Habitat for Humanity, at least once a month to assist in builds and ReStores; the club will also hold fundraising events.

25% of the global population have substandard housing or none at all, equating to 1.7 billion people worldwide. Even in the developed world (the U.S., Europe, parts of Asia and Oceania), approximately 54 million live in urban slums. Habitat for Humanity initially was a small enterprise with origins on the small farm of Koinonia, founded on the principle of providing adequate housing for those living in impoverished conditions. With the help of concerned citizens, this small organization has transformed into the global corporation known as Habitat for Humanity International having headquarters located in almost every continent.

Texas Wesleyan Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter is adopting the mission of the International branch to help eliminate homelessness and substandard housing, specifically in the Fort Worth area, giving students the opportunity to help transform the community and local families' lives. Texas Wesleyan Habitat for Humanity will be the first club on campus solely dedicated to service.
